What is a Bosch Error Code AA?

The Error Code AA on your Bosch dishwasher typically indicates a water leakage problem. This means that water is somehow escaping from its intended path in the dishwasher, potentially due to a leak or spill inside the machine. This could be caused by various issues such as a faulty seal, a broken hose, or a problem with the dishwasher’s plumbing connections.

Recommended solution/fix steps

To fix this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the Dishwasher: For safety, always start by switching off the dishwasher and unplugging it from the power source.
  2. Check the Door Seal: Inspect the rubber seal around the dishwasher door for any signs of damage or wear. If it’s cracked or broken, it will need to be replaced.
  3. Inspect Hoses and Connections: Look for any kinked or damaged hoses at the back of the dishwasher. Also, check the connections to ensure they’re tight and secure.
  4. Look for Visible Leaks: Open the dishwasher and look for any signs of water leakage or spillage inside the unit.
  5. Clean the Filters: Sometimes, clogged filters can cause water to overflow and leak. Remove and clean the filters located at the bottom of the dishwasher.
  6. Check the Dishwasher Tub: Examine the dishwasher tub for any cracks or damage. If there’s visible damage, it might need professional repair or replacement.
  7. Test the Dishwasher: After checking and addressing these areas, plug the dishwasher back in, turn it on, and run a short cycle to see if the problem persists.

If the issue continues or you’re unable to identify the source of the leak, it’s advisable to contact a professional technician for further assistance.

Bosch Troubleshooting to try

  • Check the power to your house
  • Check your dishwasher circuit breaker
  • If your dishwasher motor has overheated, it will work again when it gets back to a normal operating temperature. Try unplugging your machine, waiting fifteen minutes then trying again
  • Is the dishwasher door fully closed? If the door isn’t pushing on the closed switch, the machine won’t work
  • Have you accidentally started a delayed start timer? Follow the reset directions to reset your machine and cancel the timer
  • Is your machine full of suds? You might have used too much detergent and the machine is unable to drain
  • Is the drain hose kinked or clogged?
  • Are the water taps still turned on?
  • Check for a clogged filter

How to restart/reset/reboot your Bosch dishwasher?

Looking to reset your Bosch dishwasher to clear it and see if that helps get your machine started again? There often isn’t a way to reset the washing machine but what you can do instead is power cycle it: Unplug it (or turn off power at the circuit breaker), wait some time for the electrical charge to clear out of the dishwasher (usually 1 to 5 minutes at most), and then power it up again. This is the closest you can get to a reset of the dishwasher. A power cycle can, in rare instances, resolve your issue all by itself. Most of the time it won’t, though, and you’ll need to troubleshoot the issue you’re having in order to resolve it.

A common way to reset your Bosch dishwasher will be:

  1. Unplug your washer
  2. Wait 5 minutes
  3. Plug in your washer
  4. Did this work? If not, try to press/hold the power/start button for ten seconds or press/hold the play/pause button for ten seconds

How to clean your Bosch dishwasher

Use the Bosch dishwasher cleaner a few times a year to remove greasy residues. Simply add one box of cleaner to the bottom of your empty dishwasher and run the hottest, longest cycle.

Descaling your dishwasher and how to do it

To remove hard water deposits and limescale buildup, use the Bosch descaler a few times a year. Simply start the longest, hottest wash cycle on an empty dishwasher (don’t add detergent). After 30 minutes add one box of descaler to the bottom of your dishwasher and let the wash cycle continue. Once that cycle has finished, run another wash cycle.

How often should I clean my dishwasher filter?

The filter should be cleaned every 3-6 months, depending on usage. It can be found at the bottom of your dishwasher. Simply remove it and remove debris by running it under water with soap and a soft brush.

Additional tips for cleaning your dishwasher

Make sure the spray arms are clean and not clogged. Just run it under water to see if any of the holes are blocked. If they are, use a toothpick to loosen any debris caught in the holes.

To clean the exterior, use a damp cloth to wipe the door seals. Wash stainless steel with lukewarm water and mild soap using a soft cloth, wiping in the direction of the steel grain. Then condition with the Bosch stainless steel conditioner. Do not use the conditioner on logos, control markings and black steel.
