Daikin – Error Code E7

Daikin Error Code E7 indicates a problem with the outdoor unit’s fan motor system.

Daikin – Error Code E7

Is your Daikin air conditioner showing up with Error Code E7 on the screen?

What is a Daikin Error Code E7?

The Error Code E7 on your Daikin air conditioner indicates a problem with the outdoor unit’s fan motor system. This could mean that the fan motor itself has failed or that there’s an issue with the wiring connections, such as them not being properly connected or being defective. Essentially, the air conditioner is having trouble with the part that helps circulate air outside, which is crucial for cooling efficiency.

Recommended solution/fix steps

To fix this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Power Off: Before doing anything, make sure to turn off the air conditioner and disconnect it from the power source to ensure safety.
  2. Check Connections: Inspect the wiring harness connections to the outdoor fan motor. Ensure they are securely connected and there’s no visible damage to the wires.
  3. Inspect the Fan Motor: Look at the fan motor for any signs of damage or wear. If you’re not sure what to look for, it might be best to call in a professional.
  4. Reconnect or Replace: If the connections were loose, securely reconnect them. If the wiring or fan motor appears damaged, these components may need to be replaced.
  5. Test the System: After making any necessary repairs, reconnect the power and turn on the air conditioner to see if the error has been resolved.

If the problem persists or you’re unsure about handling any part of the process, it’s best to contact a professional technician for assistance.

Troubleshooting to try

  • Check for a dirty air filter
  • Check your thermostat settings
  • Check your household power is working
  • Check your air conditioner remote batteries
  • Check your air conditioner circuit breakers / fuses
  • Check to make sure a timer on the unit hasn’t been set up
  • Check your outdoor unit
  • Check all air vents

How to restart/reset/reboot your Daikin air conditioner?

You may find your Daikin air conditioning unit needs resetting if it starts to malfunction or isn’t responding to any input via your control panel or remote control. Resetting your air conditioner re-starts the internal computer and can often restore the unit to normal working order. The exact instructions will vary depending on your model of Daikin air conditioner.

Typically, this procedure will be:

  1. Turn off the air conditioning unit on your thermostat
  2. Power off your air conditioning unit by unplugging the outdoor unit power cable. Leave it unplugged for thirty seconds. Next, plug it back in.
  3. Locate the reset button (usually small and red). They are located in a variety of places, depending on the Daikin model and will be labelled as Reset.
  4. Press the reset button for 5 seconds. Wait thirty seconds to see if it turns on. If it doesn’t turn on, try once more. Your air conditioner should respond with a short series of beeps.
  5. Turn your air conditioning on using the thermostat

Note: If your reset button doesn’t work to turn the system on, you might have an electrical issue. Reset the main circuit breaker to see if that solves the problem.

Why is my Daikin air conditioner not working?

To find out why your Daikin air conditioning unit is not working, you will need your air conditioning remote. With the wireless remote controller supplied with the unit, or sold separately, malfunction codes by failure diagnosis can be confirmed in the following way:

  1. Hold the timer cancel button down for 5 seconds, with the remote controller set toward the indoor unit.
  2. The temperature display on the remote controller changes to the error code display and a long beep notifies this indication change. On some models, you will then need to press the timer cancel button repeatedly until a continuous beep is generated and the error code appears.

Note: To cancel the indication of the malfunction code, hold the timer cancel button down for 5 seconds. The code display also cancels itself if the button is not pressed for 1 minute.

If the above doesn’t work for your wireless controller as a LED light is being displayed, follow these steps:

  1. Press the INSPECTION/TEST button to select “Inspection.” The equipment enters the inspection mode. The “Unit” indication lights and the Unit No. display shows a flashing “0” indication.
  2. Set the Unit No. Press the UP or DOWN button and change the Unit No. display until the buzzer (*1) is generated from the indoor unit. *1 Number of beeps 3 short beeps : Conduct all of the following operations. 1 short beep : Conduct steps 3 and 4. Continue the operation in step 4 until a buzzer remains ON. The continuous buzzer indicates that the malfunction code is confirmed. Continuous beep : No abnormality.
  3. Press the MODE selector button. The left “0” (upper digit) indication of the malfunction code flashes.
  4. Malfunction code upper digit diagnosis Press the UP or DOWN button and change the malfunction code upper digit until the malfunction code matching buzzer (*2) is generated. „ The upper digit of the code changes as shown below when the UP and DOWN buttons are pressed. *2 Number of beeps Continuous beep : Both upper and lower digits matched. (Malfunction code confirmed.) 2 short beeps : Upper digit matched. 1 short beep : Lower digit matched.
  5. Press the MODE selector button. The right “0” (lower digit) indication of the malfunction code flashes.
  6. Malfunction code lower digit diagnosis Press the UP or DOWN button and change the malfunction code lower digit until the continuous malfunction code matching buzzer (*2) is generated. „ The lower digit of the code changes as shown below when the UP and DOWN buttons are pressed.

Daikin Maintenance

During normal air conditioner operation, dust, dirt, moisture from humidity or condensation, and microbial growths can build up on internal components. Left unchecked, these issues can corrode components like the evaporator coil and condenser coil. Over time, those components can become less effective and lead to a loss of efficiency or worse, a shorter air conditioner lifespan.

Regular AC maintenance and tune-ups can minimize many of the issues caused by a build-up of dirt and debris. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning filters, help to keep electricity costs low.

Cleaning your Daikin Air Conditioner filter

When the filter inside the air conditioner is obstructed, intake air amount decreases, while the amount of electricity necessary to cool the room increases. Cleaning the filter once every two weeks is recommended. For models with an automatic cleaning function, use this function to clean the filter.

The steps to clean your Daikin filter are:

  • Open the front panel and take out the air filter
  • Suck up the dust with a vacuum cleaner (using the long, thin attachment or the small brush attachment)
  • If the filter is extremely dirty and the dust is stuck to the filter, wash the filter in lukewarm water with detergent and dry in a shady place away from direct sunlight. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents, cloths or sponges to clean the exterior unit of your Daikin air conditioner. Never use hot water, always use warm soapy water for cleaning.

Note: Consider cleaning the cooling fan (heat exchanger) in the back of the unit as this helps keep electricity consumption low.

Clean the external unit

  • Turn off the power
  • Remove the top panel and remove any large debris you find in the case
  • Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft bristle nozzle to remove dust from hard-to-reach places. Be careful not to damage parts – many components can bend easily
  • Unscrew the grille of the Daikin air conditioner.
  • Wipe the fan with a clean, damp cloth
  • Clean the condenser – it has a smooth, flat surface, so the process will not take long and will not be complicated
  • Assemble the unit. Return the fan and grille to their original position and screw them back onto the unit
  • Leave the unit off for 12 to 24 hours

Remove debris from the unit

Over time, things like leaves, dirt and grass clippings will build up on the outside of your air conditioner, decreasing system capacity and reducing airflow. You should trim any shrubs or other plants back from around the air conditioner to keep from impeding airflow to and from the unit.
