Hyundai – Error Code E8

Is your Hyundai air conditioner showing up with Error Code E8 on the screen?

What is a Hyundai Error Code E8?

The Error Code E8 on your Hyundai air conditioner indicates a problem with the discharge temperature sensor. This sensor measures the temperature of the air being expelled from your AC unit. When the sensor isn’t working correctly, it can cause the air conditioner to malfunction because the system can’t accurately monitor the temperature of the air it’s releasing. This error is shown by the AC unit when it pauses (RUN) and then blinks 8 times in a sequence, repeating this pattern every 8 seconds as a way to alert you to the issue.

Recommended solution/fix steps

To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. Turn Off the AC: Before you do anything, make sure to switch off your air conditioner to prevent any risk of electrical shock or damage to the unit.
  2. Locate the Sensor: Refer to your AC’s manual to find where the discharge temperature sensor is located. It’s usually near the air outlet.
  3. Inspect the Sensor: Check the sensor for any visible signs of damage or disconnection. Sometimes, simply reconnecting a loose sensor can solve the problem.
  4. Clean the Sensor: Gently clean the sensor with a soft brush or cloth to remove any dust or debris that might interfere with its function.
  5. Reset the AC: After checking and cleaning the sensor, turn your AC unit back on. Sometimes a reset is all it needs to clear the error.
  6. Call a Professional: If the error persists after you’ve tried these steps, it’s best to call a professional technician. They can provide a more thorough inspection and possibly replace the sensor if it’s faulty.

Remember, if you’re not comfortable performing these steps yourself, it’s always best to seek help from a qualified technician to avoid damaging your air conditioner further.
