Westinghouse Troubleshooting to try

  • Check the power to your house
  • Check your washer circuit breaker
  • If your washer motor has overheated, it will work again when it gets back to a normal operating temperature. Try unplugging your machine, waiting fifteen minutes then trying again
  • Is the washer door/lid fully closed? If the door/lid isn’t pushing on the closed switch, the machine won’t work
  • Have you accidentally started a delayed start timer? Follow the reset directions to reset your machine and cancel the timer
  • Is your machine full of suds? You might have used too much detergent and the machine is unable to drain
  • Is the drain hose kinked or clogged?
  • Are the water taps still turned on?
  • Check for a clogged filter

How to restart/reset/reboot your Westinghouse washer?

Looking to reset your Westinghouse washer to clear it and see if that helps get your machine started again? There really isn’t a way to reset the washing machine. What you can do instead is power cycle it: Unplug it (or turn off power at the circuit breaker), wait some time for the electrical charge to clear out of the washer (usually 1 to 5 minutes at most), and then power it up again. This is the closest you can get to a reset of the washer. A power cycle can, in rare instances, resolve your issue all by itself. Most of the time it won’t, though, and you’ll need to troubleshoot the issue you’re having in order to resolve it.

Typically, this procedure will be:

  1. Unplug your washer
  2. Wait 5 minutes
  3. Plug in your washer
  4. Did this work? If not, try to press/hold the power/start button for ten seconds or press/hold the play/pause button for ten seconds

How to clean your Westinghouse washer

Your Westinghouse Front load washing machine is equipped with a drain pump filter that makes lost buttons or loose change a thing of the past. Westinghouse recommends cleaning out the drain pump filter of any lost items and lint buildup on a monthly basis. Ensure you disconnect your washer before cleaning.

External Cleaning

Clean the appliance only with soap and warm water. Fully dry all the surfaces. Do not use alcohol, solvents or chemical products.

Descaling

The water we use normally contains lime. It is a good idea to periodically use a water softening powder in the machine. Do this separately from any laundry washing, and according to the softening powder manufacturer’s instructions. This will help to prevent the formation of lime deposits.

After Each Wash

Leave the door open for a while. This helps to prevent mould and stagnant smells from forming inside the appliance. Keeping the door open after a wash will also help to preserve the door seal.

Maintenance Wash With Tub Clean program

With the use of low-temperature washes, it is possible to get a build-upย of residues inside the drum. We recommend using the Tub Clean program to clean the drum regularly to remove any residue.

To run a maintenance wash:

  • The drum should be empty of laundry.
  • Select the Tub Clean program.
  • Press Start/Pause to start the program.

Cleaning The Dispenser Drawer

The washing powder and additive dispenser drawer should be cleaned regularly. Remove the drawer by pushing the catch and pulling it out. Flush it out under a tap, to remove any traces of accumulated powder. To aid cleaning, the top part of the additive compartment should be removed.

Cleaning The Drawer Bottom

It is recommended to clean the bottom of the softener dispenser regularly to remove any residue. To clean the bottom of softener dispenser:

  1. After pulling out the drawer from its recess, turn the bottom side up.
  2. Push the catch and pull up the softener bottom cover.
  3. Clean the dispenser with an old toothbrush under the water tap.
  4. Close the softener bottom cover.

Cleaning The Drawer Recess

Having removed the drawer, use a small brush to clean the recess, ensuring that all washing powder residue is removed from the upper and lower part of the recess. Replace the drawer and run the rinse program without any clothes in the drum.

Cleaning The Water Inlet Filter

If your water is very hard or contains traces of lime deposit, the water inlet filter may become clogged. It is, therefore, a good idea to clean it from time to time.

To clean the water inlet filters:

  1. Close the water tap.
  2. Remove the water inlet hose from the water tap.
  3. Clean the filter in the inlet hose with a stiff brush.
  4. Remove the inlet hose behind the appliance.
  5. Clean the filter in the valve with a stiff brush or a towel.
  6. Install again the inlet hose. Make sure that the couplings are tight to prevent leakages.
  7. Open the water tap.
